For some people, protein builds up on soft lenses over a period of wearing the lenses. This needs to be cleaned and removed by a protein-removing agent. One brand of tablet, Amiclair, is relatively free of problems and should be better tolerated by the chemically sensitive. The Amiclair tablets can be used by dissolving them in distilled water or a saline solution.
Alternatively, opticians have found that Ultrazyme tablets work well used in combination with the Oxysept peroxide system; the Ultrazyme tablets can be dropped into the overnight soaking solution and left to work overnight. Some people who have reacted to Amiclair tablets used on their own have been able to tolerate Ultrazyme if used in combination with Oxysept in this way.
If you need to use wetting drops for your lenses, try Clerz sold in single dose sachets. This is a preservative-free system and is well tolerated. If you use a surfactant cleaner before using a peroxide solution, use Mirasept with the 10/10 system. This is generally trouble-free.
You can ask any pharmacist or optician to obtain those systems for you if you cannot readily find them in shops.
